DIGIWEB, Irelands fastest expanding broadband services provider, achieved another milestone today with the simultaneous launch of live licensed broadband services in Cork City and County, and the official opening of its new office in Cork City. This step provides high speed broadband access to business, home and education users throughout Cork.
The new services and launch were announced by Minister Dermot Ahern and Councillor Mary Shields, Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork City, at a morning reception at the Gresham Metropole Hotel in Cork.
Launching the service today, Dermot Ahern TD, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, said: “This launch by Digiweb of its broadband services in the Cork region is a very welcome boost to the market, providing customers and business with competition and choice. The more players we have in the broadband market the better. This is a most welcome initiative.”
Digiweb was awarded 16 licenses by ComReg over the past year to deploy broadband access around the country, and on being recently awarded a license for Cork in July, the company moved swiftly to establish a new office, recruit staff and construct its broadband access network. Digiweb Cork will service the City and County, and will also support broadband services throughout the entire South West and Mid West regions.
Welcoming this announcement, Cllr Mary Shields, Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork City, said: ” I’m delighted to welcome Digiweb to Cork, and its great to see another
successful indigenous Irish company investing here, particularly with their intention to create a further 25 new technology sector jobs to service broadband in this region”
There was great excitement this morning also when Minister Ahern and Cllr. Shields released 1,000 balloons into the skies above Cork to kick off Digiwebs Free Broadband promotion. “Each balloon carries a unique ticket and the first 25 tickets returned to us will win free wireless broadband for 1 year, and the next 125 a free wireless broadband connection” explained Adrian Erangey, Business Development Manager – Southern Region, Digiweb Ltd.
The new broadband services are available immediately in Cork, priced competitively with other Internet services and available over a wider coverage area. Full information from www.digiweb.ie
